Impressive how he forced mellow sonorities in between thunderous running cascades... Every single note, even when encountered in multi-layered chord columns, appeared resonant, well thoughtout and developed, both as soft timber and as precisely shaped biting tone.

Michael Janke, Badisches Tagblatt

His ability became apparent above all in his very mature technique. Throughout the entire B minor sonata by Liszt he convinced and thrilled the audience with virtuoso power and sonority in orchestral passages.

Bernd Willimek, Badische Neueste Nachrichten

Appreciated in his diverse live performances, he is for many music friends also in recordings surely a listening adventure because of his tender, cultivated playing.

Petra Stoiber, Gramola

Balance in cantabile passages and in the phrasing; soft and precise touch; conscientiousness and harmony in the design of the program.

Üner Birkan, Cumhuriyet

In the performance of a difficult but at the same time fascinating program which requires much determination, virtuosity, imagination, in each work he remains true to the various styles of each composer.

Ayhan Erman, Filarmoni Sanat

In the Gala-evening with works by Ravel (Alborada gracioso) and Prokofiev (Romeo and Julia op.75) he proved himself as a brilliant pianist...

Marcello Abbado (Chairman of the E.Pozzoli Int. Competition)

In an interview with Paolo Volonterio, il Cittadino

Looking for Brahms' solo piano music in first rate, well-recorded performances at super-budget price? Then consider this boxed set, featuring

five pianists. (Håkon Austbø, Hélène Grimaud, Karin Lechner, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, Kamerhan Turan)...

…Kamerhan Turan's lean, glittering pianism transforms the unwieldy First sonata into something infinitely more graceful and supple than we often hear. And he's no slouch in the E-flat minor Scherzo. All told, a highly recommendable collection.

Jed Distler, classicstoday.com

The piano music of Brahms is a bit of a mixed bag, in terms both of quality and style, so it seems reasonable to compile a complete set from recordings by a number of different pianists. In fact, there is more coherency here than the performers list might suggest. We have five pianists, from five different countries and yet, with the exception of one disc, all were recorded in the last ten years, and all were originally released by Brilliant Classics...

...The early piano sonatas are performed by Kamerhan Turan and Alan Weiss, and both give impressively nuanced readings. There can be a danger with these works of excess, and the many densely voiced chords with loud dynamics can overpower everything that comes between. In fact both of these pianists manage to maintain a sense of intimacy in the quieter passages, while ensuring that the dramatic intensity of the outer movements is only ever relative.
